Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has declared that he was “buzzing” after his goal-scoring debut for Nigeria in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Nigeria – and admitted that it was a “special day” for him and his family to play for the Super Eagles.

Aribo hit the net just four minutes into the clash leading Nigerian fans to lose their minds over their newly-anointed star.

The Rangers midfielder confessed the result was “unfortunate” as the hosts fought back from 2-0 down to draw level in the dying minutes but Aribo was happy overall.

“Buzzing to make my debut for Nigeria,” Aribo posted on Twitter.

“Unfortunate with the result but happy to score on my debut, a special day for me & my family and one I’ll remember.”

The 23-year-old faces a hectic spell as the Gers look to push on and challenge for the title as well as compete in the group stage of the Europa League.

With four goals to his name for the Gers so far, Aribo has hit the ground running at Ibrox and, hopefully, his international debut can help him push on even more.

The Gers face Livingston at Ibrox this weekend and it would be the perfect chance for the midfielder to make a real statement.
