Rangers kick off their Europa League campaign tomorrow night when they face Lincoln Red Imps tomorrow in Gibraltar – and the Gers will have Alfredo Morelos available for the clash after an injury picked up at the weekend.
Steven Gerrard confirmed Morelos is available for selection but wasn’t giving away anything over his selection for tomorrow night’s tie with Morelos, Jermain Defoe, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten all potential starters.
“We will make a decision on the team when we need to,” Gerrard said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
“In terms of fitness, Alfredo is with the group and available for selection. All our focus is on trying to qualify for the next round.”
The Light Blues are already without Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo, Brandon Barker and Leon Balogun for the clash with the minnows so haing Morelos available is a big boost for the Gers.
A win over the Red Imps will set up a clash with Dutch side Willem II or Progres Niedekorn in the next round as Rangers look to make group stage for a third successive season.
Gerrard also confirmed, however, that Jack is set to miss out the next few weeks after picking up a calf injury in the win over Dundee United while Barker is sidelined with a similar issue, adding: “Jack will be missing for a few weeks with a calf problem, Barker will also be missing in the short-term with a calf problem.”
Losing Jack is a blow but it should see Glen Kamara come back into the starting XI to partner Steven Davis in central midfield after impressing in the weekend win.
The Finn replaced Jack when he was injured and put in an impressive performance after catching the eye during the international break with Finland as well.
