Rangers have identified Anderlecht striker Kemar Roofe as a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos if the Colombian star is sold this summer, according to a report.

According to The Sun, Gers boss Steven Gerrard will revive his interest in the striker after missing out on him 12 months ago when he left Leeds United.

Roofe only made 17 appearances for Anderlecht after his £7million move last summer, hitting the net seven times and chipping in with three assists.

The striker suffered a few injuries in Belgium which disrupted his season, including one picked up in a mid-season friendly draw with Livingston.

The Gers have already made four signings this summer after Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin joined Jermain Defoe and Ianis Hagi.

While any interest in Roofe hinges on Morelos being sold this summer, speculation has followed the Colombian almost constantly since arriving in Scotland three years ago.

The striker has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League and has been reportedly interesting several sides south of the border while Qatar outfit Al-Duhail have also been linked with a £15m swoop.

If he remains at Ibrox though, there won’t be many complaints as El Bufalo looks to fire Rangers to their first title since 2011.
