Rangers hero quits job after 'extremely challenging' season in homeland

Former Rangers star Peter Lovenkrands has left his role with Danish side Fremad after an ‘extremely challenging’ year in charge.

Lovenkrands took the reins last summer after leaving Rangers but has decided to call it quits after retaining his side’s place in the Danish second tier.

Posting on social media, Lovenkrands expressed his delight at the outcome of the season but after ‘much and careful consideration’ he’s decided to ‘pass on the baton’.

“The last season at Fremad has been extremely challenging both on and off the pitch,” Lovenkrands said [Instagram].

“However, I’m very proud of the players and the staff on how they conducted themselves throughout the season, supported me and obviously delighted that we collectively managed to secure our position in the division.

“It was a very satisfying end to the season. After much and careful consideration and talking it through with my family and the club, I have decided to leave the club and pass the baton on to someone else to lead the club next season and in to a new chapter.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to the club for giving me the opportunity and thank all the players, staff and the fans whom have all supported me so brilliantly throughout the season during some very difficult circumstances.

“I wish Fremad all the very best for the future.”

Lovenkrands has also worked as part of the Rangers coaching staff, working in the Academy before taking charge at Fremad.

It’ll be interesting to see where the Dane ends up next and whether he looks to continue in management or looks for alternative roles.
