Rangers star Ianis Hagi faces a sweat over his fitness for Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier against Malmo after he was forced out of the Premiership opening day win over Livingston just 31 minutes in through injury – and Gers fans on Twitter are gutted for the Romanian international.

Hagi opened the scoring for Rangers just seven minutes into the Ibrox clash as he started brightly before being scythed down by Lewis, earning the Livi man a booking in the process.

The Rangers number 7 looked to have recovered after initially receiving treatment at the side of the pitch but limped off soon afterwards to be replaced by Scott Wright.

Having impressed last season but never really cemented his place in the side, Hagi will have been hoping to make a strong start to the new campaign and make it hard for Gerrard to drop him.

However, he’ll now face a wait to discover the extent of the damage after the challenge by the Liverpool loanee brought his afternoon to a premature end.

The Gers take on Malmo in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie in Sweden, looking to land a massive windfall by reaching the group stages of the Champions League and return to Europe’s premier club competition.

With the likes of Wright available to Gerrard, he will have alternatives to Hagi if the Romanian does miss out against Malmo, although Kemar Roofe’s suspension limits his choices a little.

Rangers fans were gutted for Hagi after his impressive start and took to Twitter as he made his way off at Ibrox earlier this afternoon.

Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans on Twitter after Hagi was forced off injured 30 minutes into the first game of the season:
