Romania icon Gheorghe Hagi thinks Rangers are the “ideal” club for his son Ianis to flourish after completing a permanent move from KRC Genk.
Speaking to Heart and Hand in a lengthy interview, the former Barcelona and Real Madrid star waxed lyrical about the Light Blues and admitted he was “very happy” to see Ianis make his move to Glasgow permanent – hailing the Gers support and “winning mentality.”
“Rangers is a very big club, with a big history, with a tradition in Europe, a club with a winning mentality, with fantastic fans that any club would like,” Hagi said, speaking to Heart and Hand.
“We are very happy that he signed and all these things will help Ianis to get even better. I told him that this club is ideal for him.”
Ianis impressed after initially moving to Ibrox on loan from the Belgians and fans were delighted to see the Gers take up the option to make it a permanent move.
The Romania international will have a huge role to play in the new season as Steven Gerrard looks to get his hands on his first trophy in management and make up for lost time after the 2019/20 season was ended over a conference call.
