Rangers get midfielder fitness boost following Ryan Jack blow

Rangers star Joe Aribo should be back in the squad for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Standard Liege after training with Steven Gerrard’s squad today and yesterday.

The Nigerian international has missed the last couple of games after being ill but it seems as though the midfielder is back ready to play – with Ryan Jack doubtful for tomorrow’s game.

Brandon Barker will “hopefully” be available too after rolling his ankle in the League Cup win over Falkirk on Sunday night, as Gerrard ran through his injury worries ahead of the Liege clash.

“Joe Aribo will hopefully be back,” Gerrard said. [Rangers TV]

He trained yesterday and he’s going to train today so assuming he comes through today’s session he should be back in the squad. Katic, you know about, he’s long term. Brandon Barker will try his little knock out today.

“He had a little ankle twist on the astroturf. He’ll try train this morning, hopefully he’ll pull through and be available as well.”

The Gers are one win away from securing their place in the next round of the Europa League and, after the disappointment of drawing with Benfica, will be eager to put in a strong showing.

After getting to rest several players in the League Cup win over Falkirk, als being able to bring Aribo back into the fold will be a big boost for Rangers.
