Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash with St. Mirren on December 30 has seen kick-off brought forward to 3pm after both clubs requested the change, the SPFL have confirmed.

The game was due to get started at 745pm but will now take place in the afternoon in Paisley and give Steven Gerrard’s side a few hours extra rest before facing Celtic three days later.

The two sides meet later tonight in the quarter-finals of the League Cup in Paisley before the Gers make the short journey in two weeks time to meet again in the League.

Jim Goodwin’s side are currently on a nine-game unbeaten run and are looking to climb up the table after a difficult spell as a result of positive Covid tests.

Rangers have been in outstanding form so far this season and the clash with the Buddies in two weeks could see Steven Gerrard’s side bring the curtain down on 2020 undefeated since the return of football.

Cedric Itten could be one of several players to come into the starting XI tonight after missing out at Dundee United at the weekend, with Tuesday’s press conference hinting that a silky international is in line for a recall.
