Rangers captain James Tavernier was the man who made the two individual errors that turned the result on its head against Young Boys on Thursday night.

However, he was certainly not the only player to have a poor game.

On Matchday One, Sheyi Ojo was the hero. His spectacular long-range strike gave the Gers their impressive 1-0 win over Feyenoord.

However, on Matchday Two, he failed to make any meaningful contribution whatsoever.

Despite Young Boys looking vulnerable every time Rangers got the ball down and attempted to go at them, Ojo, who was the only out-and-out winger deployed in the starting XI, failed to make an impact.

As identified by Ally McCoist on BT Sport commentary, he consistently made aimless runs in behind rather than offering short for his full-back, Borna Barisic. As a result, there was no fluidity to the Gers down the left, and possession was lost more often than not.

A big chance came the Liverpool loanee’s way just before the break, though. Sent clear on the left side of the box, his chance wasn’t dissimilar to the one Alfredo Morelos had tucked away with aplomb just moments earlier.

With Ojo, though, there wasn’t the same sense of conviction and he dragged his shot wide.

In the second half, he continued to be ineffective and with substitutions in hand, it’s a mystery why Brandon Barker wasn’t given a run for at least the final 10-15 minutes.

Rangers fans slam Ojo for poor European display

We said recently that Ojo is far from the finished product and will frustrate Bears across the campaign.

This was definitely one of those nights, with many supporters far from impressed.

The 22-year-old has five goals and four assists in 16 appearances [Transfermarkt], but for many, he’s simply not cutting it.
