Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland was among the goals again for the Arabs in today’s Scottish Cup clash with Hibernian – and some Rangers fans want the Gers to bring the prolific forward to Ibrox.

Shankland levelled the score in first-half injury-time after Christian Doidge’s early opener but parity didn’t last long after the restart as Martin Boyle restored Hibs’ lead after 47 minutes.

The striker showed great composure to fire home from Ian Harkes’ pass and give his side hope of knocking out the Hibees and reaching the last 16.

Shankland only moved to the Arabs in the summer after his Ayr United deal ended and it seems unlikely that the Tannadice side would want to sell their talisman to the Light Blues given the tense recent history between the two.

The Premiership side looked set to take their place in the next round before Louis Appere’s strike levelled it up once more and set up a replay at Easter Road on January 28th.

The goal against Hibs was Shankland’s 25th in 25 games for United and Rangers fans on Twitter think Steven Gerrard should take a gamble on the Scotland international – with one saying he is a “cracking player.”
