There’s been no official confirmation as yet, but last week, Celtic said that they hoped to soon be in a position to provide an update to supporters [Glasgow Times].

43-year-old Howe has been linked with the vacancy for some time, and if he is appointed, it will be his first job since leaving Bournemouth by mutual consent following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2019/20 season.

His Cherries side were praised for an attractive brand of football, but they were extremely fragile defensively at the back end of his tenure and he would have a big task on his hands given the current gulf between the Old Firm clubs.

Rangers have been truly outstanding this season, winning four of the five derbies and wrapping up the title by March, while recruitment is already well underway for next season.
