Rangers have taken to posting a ‘Goal of the Day‘ as they look to keep fans engaged during the enforced shutdown of football – and fans were loving today’s throwback to Kevin Thomson’s first goal for the club.

Thomson scored the only goal of the game as the Gers picked up an Old Firm win over their bitter rivals and go six points clear at the top of the table.

The season would go on to end in disappointment as Rangers lost the title and suffered a heartbreaking UEFA Cup final defeat in Manchester to Zenit St. Petersburg.

Thomson’s strike would be one of only three the midfielder netted during his time at Ibrox – with the others coming against FBK Kaunas and Dundee United.

The former Hibs, Middlesbrough and Scotland star is now part of the Academy coaching staff as he makes his first steps towards a likely career in management.

Fans on Twitter were loving Thomson’s strike – with one pointing out Rangers got twice the player for half the price of a certain former Hibs team-mate.
