Rangers fans were prepared for a meltdown from across the city after leapfrogging Celtic to go top of the Scottish Premiership at the weekend – but one caller to Radio Clyde’s SuperScoreBoard phone-in gave fans on Twitter “the hero we don’t deserve.”

“Tam from Clydebank” wrote his name into Rangers Twitter lore with his rant about Celtic’s defeat at Livingston as he claimed Celtic would beat them nine times out of ten.

The caller rants at the panel, including former Ger Alex Rae, before being hilariously corrected leading to an awkward silence before comedy gold ensues.

“Put it like this, right, see if they were to play Livingston ten weeks on the trot, they would beat them,” Tam said.

“Livingston beat them (on Sunday) but see if they were to play another nine week running, Celtic would beat them.”

Host Gordon Duncan quickly interjected, asking if he was sure as “in the last four meetings, Celtic have now only won once.”

After a few seconds of bewildered silence, Tam was back to fight his corner, spluttering: “Where’s Livingston in the league? What cups have they won?”

Rangers fans were already enjoying the meltdown – with many probably listening to SuperScoreBoard for that very reason – and Tam certainly lived up to expectation with his mental rant.

One fan insisted that he was “the hero we want but the hero we don’t deserve” and he couldn’t have called it any better.
