Rangers take on Kilmarnock in their penultimate game of 2019 later this afternoon and Gers fans on Twitter are surprised after Steven Gerrard confirmed his starting XI to take on the Ayrshire side.

Gerrard has named the same side as the one which faced Hibs six days ago as Jermain Defoe keeps his place in the starting XI ahead of Morelos – leaving fans puzzled.

Morelos missed the Hibs clash through suspension and most expected the Colombian would return to the side this afternoon but Gerrard has kept faith with his former England team-mate.

Killie have been struggling for form lately but after sacking manager Angelo Alessio and replacing him with interim boss Alex Dyer, the Gers could face a tougher Kilmarnock side than has been seen recently.

With Celtic having played a game more than the Light Blues, the Gers are playing catch-up but will have a chance to turn things around a bit when they meet on Sunday.

Rangers fans were quick to voice their surprise at Morelos’ absence – despite having the prolific Defoe in the side to take his place.
