Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has named his starting XI for tonight’s League Cup quarter-final clash with Livingston – and Gers fans are

Katic hasn’t made the starting XI but is one of the substitutes as the Gers make two changes from Sunday’s win over Livingston.

The Croatian was axed from the squad to face Feyenoord in the opening game of the Europa League group stage and was missing again on Sunday as the Light Blues eased by St. Johnstone.

Despite a string of fantastic performances at the start of the campaign, Katic and Connor Goldson’s form had dropped off in the weeks before the international break.

With Helander and George Edmundson waiting in reserve, it was no surprise to see one of the two come into the side – and with the fee paid for Helander and the Swede’s vast experience, he was an obvious pick.

So far, the Swede has yet to concede a goal in the four games he has started and he’s made an impressive start as a Rangers player.

The Betfred Cup clash with Livingston seemed like an ideal opportunity, however, to bring Katic back into the side – alongside any one of Goldson, Helander and Edmundson – but it looks as though Gerrard has opted for some consistency in his selection at the back.
