Rangers fans react to empty seats in Aberdeen end at Pittodrie

Rangers v Aberdeen is always a tense match and at Pittodrie this afternoon it was no different.
Rangers and Aberdeen played out a nervy 1-1 draw which forces the Scottish Cup Quarter Final to a reply at Ibrox.
And whilst plenty of Rangers fans turned out at Pittodrie today, it’s a shame the Aberdeen fans didn’t. Especially when you consider the club rejected giving Rangers more briefs.

It’s understandable that Aberdeen don’t want to hand Rangers too great an advantage on their home patch. No matter where the Ibrox club plays, they bring plenty of numbers.
Aberdeen rejected Rangers request for more tickets citing safety reasons. Rangers were entitled to apply for 20% of the tickets under Scottish cup rules.
But after knocking the club back they couldn’t even put a dent in selling out their own stadium. And Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure.

Rangers have previously cut Celtic’s ticket allocation for Ibrox, citing the desire for season tickets. But there’s also other theories as to why the club cut Celtic’s 8k allocation for Ibrox Old Firms. Not least because it was giving our rivals an advantage.
Whilst it might sound hypocritical for Rangers to criticise Aberdeen for failing to fill the ground, at least Rangers fans reacted and filled the space.
What’s crazy is that Aberdeen have just been given the go-ahead for a new £50m stadium. What’s the chances they won’t fill that either?
