Rangers new boy Calvin Bassey has taken to Twitter to express his delight at scoring in his first appearance for the club – and Gers fans have welcomed the defender with open arms.
Bassey scored Rangers’ first goal in the 2-1 win over Hamilton yesterday following his summer move from Leicester City, posting on social media hours after the game.

Accies took the lead inside the opening ten minutes courtesy of a Ronan Hughes strike but Bassey drew the Gers level with a header from a Ryan Kent cross.
Alfredo Morelos earned and scored a penalty three minutes from time to secure the win and get pre-season off to a winning start ahead of the trip to France later this week.
Bassey reportedly turned down a contract with Leicester as well as West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen to move to Ibrox and he could have seen his chances of regular games boosted by Niko Katic’s injury.
The former Leicester kid played at both left-back and centre-back in yesterday’s win and his versatility could well see him come into Gerrard’s thoughts for a place in central defence.
Having someone who can push Borna Barisic on should also really help Rangers and it’s good to see Bassey make an impressive start to life at Ibrox
Fans on Twitter hope he can continue to impress and were quick to show their support after his goal yesterday..
