Rangers fans have reacted after it emerged that Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has been banned for 2 matches for violent conduct after he grabbed Alfredo Morelos’ genitals during the Old Firm clash at Parkhead in late December [Scottishfa.co.uk].

After an SFA citing, an independent panel heard the case on Monday afternoon, where it was decided that the 24-year-old had committed a foul worthy of a red card which was missed by referee Kevin Clancy.

It’s not the first time Christie has been in hot water with the authorities this season, either, as he was red-carded for a horror tackle against Livingston in October.

Given that this is his second offence of the campaign, another game has been added to his ban. Therefore, he will miss the Scottish Cup clash at Partick Thistle as well as Premiership fixtures against Kilmarnock and Ross County.

Rangers fans have felt aggrieved by the actions of compliance officer Clare Whyte and these disciplinary panels in the past, and given the alleged agenda held by some in the Scottish media against Alfredo Morelos, it’s a positive that an opposition player has finally been punished in some way for an act committed against the Colombian striker.

All the fallout after the game was about Morelos’ gesture following his late red card. However, it seems as though Christie will be the only player to face retrospective punishment.
