Rangers fans have praised Ianis Hagi for his contribution against Ross County after he provided a late assist for Brandon Barker.

Jordan Jones was preferred to the Romania international at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon but with the Gers struggling to put the game to bed in the second half, he was brought on for Ryan Jack in the 65th minute.

Hagi has struggled at times at domestic level since joining the Gers for his initial loan spell from Genk in January.

However, he has offered moments of real quality in recent weeks and was excellent in the Europa League play-off win over Galatasaray on Thursday night.

When given the freedom to roam across the forward line and create, he is extremely dangerous and he proved that once again on Sunday.

A collective sigh of relief was breathed by Bears in the 88th minute when the 21-year-old lifted the ball behind the County defence for Barker, who latched onto the pass, evaded defenders and fired past Ross Laidlaw to secure the three points.

Hagi now has seven assists in his last seven Gers appearances in all competitions. It’s a very strong return for a talented young player who is still finding his way in the game.

Plenty of Rangers fans were impressed with his impact, suggesting he receives much more criticism than he deserves.
