Rangers fans have launched a push on social media to help Ibrox keeper Allan McGregor be named the goalkeeper in the SPFL’s Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.

The league have launched an online poll to pick who goes between the sticks and – unsurprisingly – it is a straight shootout between McGregor and Old Firm rival Fraser Forster.

Another Rangers keeper is also in the running with Robby McCrorie nominated as Livingston’s choice – despite only joining the West Lothian side in January.

McGregor has been a near-constant presence in the Rangers side since returning to Ibrox as one of Steven Gerrard’s first signings and the veteran has been crucial for the Light Blues.

14 clean sheets in 27 league games and a string of impressive performances in Europe have shown why the former Scotland star has been so important for Rangers this season.

His form since returning has been enough to see off Wes Foderingham and the veteran will be hoping he can pick up where he left off when football resumes later this year.

Voting is open until midnight tonight (Tuesday).
