Rangers fans in hysterics as Celtic legend relives Helicopter Sunday

Former Celtic striker John Hartson sat down with Sky Sports to relive Celtic’s famous collapse on ‘Helicopter Sunday’ – and Rangers fans on Twitter were absolutely loving it.

Celtic bottled winning the SPL title when all they needed was a point away to Motherwell when Scott McDonald’s late double caused the helicopter to change direction and spark a title party in Leith as Rangers beat Hibs 1-0.

With Celtic holding a two-point lead over Rangers going into the final day of the season and leading 1-0 at Motherwell with only minutes left in the final game of the season, the helicopter carrying the Premier League trophy set off for Fir Park.

Before it could arrive at Fir Park, McDonald had turned what many expected to be a simple procession into one of the most dramatic finales to a league season ever.

15 years on, Hartson relived the afternoon from a Celtic perspective and, unsurprisingly, Rangers fans were making the most of it.

One fan admitted that listening to Hartson go over a day that clearly still haunts Celtic fans today “might be worth” listening to, in what is probably the biggest understatement of today.
