Rangers fans have clashed on social media over the matchday atmosphere at Ibrox.
The Gers romped past a hapless Hearts side in Govan on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of goals from Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Greg Stewart (2) and a Christophe Berra OG.
It was a comprehensive win which took Steven Gerrard’s side to just a goal behind Celtic at the top of the Premiership table, ahead of what promises to be a testing trip to Aberdeen in midweek.
However, some fans expressed their frustration at a perceived flatness at the ground both before and during the game.
It’s been contested that outside of the Union Bears, fans aren’t prepared to create an atmosphere and instead focus mainly on criticising the Rangers players.
The complaints come after a backlash against the so-called ‘Subway Loyal’ after thousands of supporters left the ground early during the 2-0 Europa League win over Porto last month.
However, other fans have hit back at the criticism, suggesting that nothing is afoot.
They claim that rightly high expectations amongst supporters are behind the moans and groans which follow mistakes from players and that far from an embarrassment, it’s a reflection of the standards of the club.
Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:
The only time you hear people not in the UB ranks making loud noise is to criticise the players – Ibrox used to be much better than that.

We’ve always been like this. That’s the way we are. Get used to it

I was looking for this tweet before adding it myself. It's why we're the best as we demand the best. Yes sometimes it's ott on certain players but when it's going it's amazing. Fans like players need edge to work guess today we felt hearts didn't have the edge or deserved it

More noise booing Ojo and Naismith than any cheers

When you try to play expansive football like we do mistakes will be made occasionally. They need encouraged not berated. Can see the management teams point in asking for support. Our fans just take a dislike to some players though and that’s it after that.

No, he doesn’t. You’ll never get anything from a player by abusing him.

The atmosphere is terrible, most folk waiting on a bad pass to start shouting and moaning, then there’s hardly anyone left in the stadium to clap the team off!

Aye it’s like the end of the world the way some folk react to a bad pass, like someone had just reversed over their dug.

Genuinely a guy who always moans near me was screaming to get the finger out when we were 3 up today. Shouting it was too slow in the build up from the back.

The Ibrox crowd have always been this way. So many uneducated football people in the stands. Very little of that when we are away from home as more hardcore fans who know the game. It frustrates me but nothing you can do sadly. 🤷♂️

Why should any player get abuse when the team is 3 nil up? He's 21 years of age, give him a chance to express himself without shouting abuse at him, it's a bizarre mentality.

It should work like this
Fans singing > team plays well > fans louder > team scores > fans get even louder and so on.
Ibrox has an incredible atmosphere potential, and we see it a lot but there’s fans letting it down

Was cringing at how bad it is mate.

As a fellow bear pointed out on here, we need to pull our finger out massively as a support. The atmosphere inside ibrox is absolutely horrendous after the first 5 mins of games. You could hear a pin drop the day! Considering our attendances it is pitiful and laughable!

Team won 5-0, some people are never happy…

This is clearly a divisive topic, but how do you see it?
