Rangers fans have clashed on social media over the matchday atmosphere at Ibrox.

The Gers romped past a hapless Hearts side in Govan on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of goals from Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Greg Stewart (2) and a Christophe Berra OG.

It was a comprehensive win which took Steven Gerrard’s side to just a goal behind Celtic at the top of the Premiership table, ahead of what promises to be a testing trip to Aberdeen in midweek.

However, some fans expressed their frustration at a perceived flatness at the ground both before and during the game.

It’s been contested that outside of the Union Bears, fans aren’t prepared to create an atmosphere and instead focus mainly on criticising the Rangers players.

The complaints come after a backlash against the so-called ‘Subway Loyal’ after thousands of supporters left the ground early during the 2-0 Europa League win over Porto last month.


However, other fans have hit back at the criticism, suggesting that nothing is afoot.

They claim that rightly high expectations amongst supporters are behind the moans and groans which follow mistakes from players and that far from an embarrassment, it’s a reflection of the standards of the club.
