Shortly before the club announced the signing of South African midfielder Bongani Zungu, Rangers’ Twitter admin dug deep into his bag of Still Game clips to hint an announcement was soon – and Gers fans on Twitter were absolutely loving it.

After using a clip from the much-loved comedy to silence Willem II fans after the Europa League thrashing in the Netherlands, the club’s Twitter account again delivered with the clip which ends with Winston yelling “South Africa.”

Zungu is 29 caps for the Bafana Bafana, although isn’t involved for the upcoming friendlies with Namibia and Zambia, and the clip confirmed what we were all expecting after reports throughout the day suggested a deal was close.

The midfielder will join the Light Blues on a season-long loan, with Rangers having an option to make it permanent next summer, and he brings to an end Steven Gerrard’s summer-long search for a midfielder.

His arrival makes him the eight signing of the summer for Rangers, joining Jermain Defoe, Ianis Hagi, Leon Balogun, Calvin Bassey, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten and Jon McLaughlin.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

With Gerrard’s side not back in action until the Old Firm clash at Parkhead on October 17, the South African could be set for a damatic debut against the Gers’ bitter rivals as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Fans on Twitter were delighted with the club – not just because it confirmed Zungu’s arrival – and the Rangers Twitter admin was almost as popular as the Gers’ newest signing.
