Rangers enter race to sign PL-linked midfield maestro - report

Rangers have joined the race to sign 18-year-old Bolton Wanderers midfielder Luca Connell, according to a report, but face competition from the likes of Southampton and Norwich City for his signature.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Gers are “leading” the chase for Connell as Steven Gerrard wastes no time in adding to his squad.

Bolton have been relegated to League One and will start the new season with a 12-point deduction after entering administration – and Connell could be moved on to raise funds for the crisis-hit club.
The Irishman is out of contract this summer but Norwich will be due a compensation fee if he moves on.

Gerrard has already added
Jake Hastie and Jordan Jones to his squad for next season while Northern Irish captain Steven Davis will stay at the club after signing a one-year deal after spending the last six months on loan at Ibrox.
Connell has made 12 appearances for the Trotters this season and has impressed despite the ongoing drama surrounding the club’s ownership.

The Liverpool-born midfielder has been part of Bolton’s Academy for a decade and it would likely cost in the region of £500,000 in development fees should he sign for the Gers.
