Rangers Eduardo Herrera spotted doing pre-season with Mexican club

Rangers flop Eduardo Herrera has started pre-season training with Mexican side Club Necaxa as it looks like the striker won’t be returning to Scotland any time soon.
Herrera joined Necaxa on loan in January for the remainder of the 2018/19 season but was spotted in a video released by the Mexicans as their squad reported back for the first day of pre-season.

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers squad are due back at the Hummel Training Centre within the next 7-10 days as their own preparations get underway and it would seem certain that Herrera won’t be joining them.
The Mexican was signed by Pedro Caixinha but struggled to get any real game time for the Gers before being shipped out on loan following Caixinha’s sacking.

A spell at Santos Laguna never worked out before it was cut short and he joined their Liga MX rivals, where he scored five times and contributed two assists in 16 appearances.
The 30-year-old still has one year left on his Rangers contract but it wouldn’t come as a surprise if that was brought to an end this summer.

If the Gers could somehow get a transfer fee for Herrera it would be a near-miracle, although Necaxa are obviously keen to have him around given that he’s turned up for pre-season.
There’s no chance of him getting a reprieve at Ibrox however so at least he’s making some sort of effort to keep himself playing rather than sitting in Scotland and getting paid for doing nothing.
