Rangers will travel to St. Mirren in the League Cup quarter-final on December 16 with an 8pm kick-off after the game was selected for live television coverage on Premier Sports.

The Light Blues beat Falkirk in the last round while St. Mirren knocked out Aberdeen to set up the clash at the SMISA Stadium two weeks tomorrow.

Steven Gerrard’s side will be aiming to go one better than last season after losing to Celtic in the final 12 months ago and, with the Parkhead side in meltdown after being knocked out by Ross County, the Gers must surely be favourites to lift the trophy.

Alloa v Hibs will also be shown the night before, while Livingston face Ross County in an all Premiership tie and Championship leaders Dunfermline take on St Johnstone.

Rangers haven’t won the League Cup since 2011 and getting their hands on silverware this season would be a massive momentum boost towards the Premiership title.

If Rangers get past the Buddies, they’ll head to Hampden at the end of January with the final played on the last day of February.
