Rangers could face Premier League competition in the shape of West Ham United in their reported pursuit of Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean.

That report claimed that McLean was open to the prospect of moving to Ibrox with Rangers said to be weighing up either permanent move or a loan-to-buy in the winter window.

This news also comes after West Ham were linked with a move for the player earlier in the year, according to a report in the Sun.

Whilst this report concerns the last window, Dave Moyes’ side remains light in the midfield department with fans expecting them to invest this winter.

What’s more, the same newspaper also claimed that Norwich City could value the ex-Aberdeen star up to £10m [The Sun].

But with McLean now playing Championship football following the Canaries’ relegation to the Championship, this valuation may have dropped slightly.

With playing time now at a premium for the midfielder at Carrow Road, there may well be interest in his services come January with both Rangers and West Ham both reportedly interested.

The player himself is said to be open to a move to Ibrox and McLean even told Open Goal that there were early discussions about a move to Rangers in 2018 but it was “nothing for me to get excited about”.

With McLean also one of two midfield players recently linked with Ibrox, could he and another midfield international be the perfect replacements for two ageing Rangers stars?
