Rangers have been dealt a massive blow ahead of a huge week of fixtures for Steven Gerrard’s side after first-team coach Mick Beale confirmed that Scott Wright and Ianis Hagi are expected to miss the next few games.

The Light Blues travel to face Ross County tomorrow before a trip to Armenia to face Alashkert in the second leg of their Europa League playoff.

Once the Gers have those two games out of the way, Celtic are the visitors to Ibrox in the season’s first Old Firm game – and there will be serious doubts over both players’ fitness for that game too.

Beale told Rangers TV that both players had picked up knocks in the win over Alashkert on Thursday night and would be assessed before tomorrow’s game before later going on to suggest they would miss the next two games.

If both players do miss out, it would be a huge loss for Rangers going into such important games – with the likes of Ryan Kent being out of form only compounding matters for Gerrard.

While there is still an outside chance both could recover in time and make an appearance tomorrow night, it seems likely they will be wrapped in cotton wool and saved for a potential return on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been explaining why one of the club’s attacking players has been dropped from a major Ibrox squad.
