Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants to see £7million Ibrox star Ryan Kent “play with freedom and go and express himself” after getting a proper pre-season under his belt this summer.
Kent has had stop-start pre-seasons in recent years with moves in the middle of the summer disruption his preparations, and Gerrard hopes his side can see the benefit from it.
The Ibrox boss admits that the former Liverpool kid is enjoying his football and already showing signs of delivering more assists and goals this term.
“We want Ryan to play with freedom and go and express himself, he is smiling, sharp, and enjoying his football and posting numbers in terms of goals and assists after the benefit of a full pre-season,” Gerrard said.
Kent has had an impressive start to the season and looks much more like the player Rangers fans were hoping for when he signed from Liverpool last summer.
If he can maintain this level of form, he will be a massive player this season and could make a huge difference in the outcome of the title race.
After finally getting a proper pre-season completed, it just shows how much a player’s form can affected in the short term with the disruption of transfers in the middle of the summer.
