Rangers have reportedly had an offer for Anderlecht star Kemar Roofe rejected, according to reports in Belgium.
According to HLN, via Anderlecht fansite Anderlecht Online, the Gers were looking to loan the former Leeds star with an option to make it permanent later.
The Gers tried to lure Roofe to Ibrox last summer but were beaten by Vincent Kompany’s side, who spent £7million on him.
Roofe only made 17 appearances for Anderlecht after an injury-hit first season in Belgium but has still caught the eye, hitting the net seven times and chipping in with three assists.
Reports last week had suggested that Steven Gerrard had identified Roofe as a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos should the Colombian be sold this summer.
Roofe would be Rangers’ fifth signing of the summer with Jermain Defoe and Ianis Hagi joining permanently after loan spells and Calvin Bassey and Scotland keeper Jon McLaughlin also agreeing to deals with the Light Blues.
If the Gers have in fact made a move for the 27-year-old, it would suggest that Morelos could well be on his way out of Ibrox sooner rather than later, although Roofe arrival wouldn’t necessarily mean the end for Morelos as the former Leeds star can also play out wide.
