Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr has praised Rangers star Joe Aribo after the midfielder scored on his international debut in the 2-2 draw with Ukraine last week.

Aribo has impressed since moving to Ibrox over the summer and only took three minutes to grab his first goal for his country.

“For a friendly it was a high-level game and we had a lot of satisfaction with these new players especially Aribo who also scored the first goal,” Rohr said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“And our strikers with the quickness, our wingers, our midfield and even behind. You know that eight players from the AFCON were not here and we had to replace them.”

The midfielder had a big hand in Alfredo Morelos’ goal in the 3-1 win over Livingston on Saturday and will likely have a key role against Feyenoord on Thursday in the Europa League.

Aribo could still switch allegiances and accept a call-up by England until he plays in a competitive game for Nigeria – with the AFCON qualifier with Benin in November the first chance the Super Eagles will have to tie him down.

With four goals in his first 13 games for Rangers, Aribo has already made a big impression at Ibrox and there looks to be much more to come from the 23-year-old.
