January signings Matt Polster and Glenn Kamara both started for Rangers reserves today as they thumped Morton 5-0.
The duo were part of a strong side as they build towards their first-team debuts, joining Gareth McAuley, Jon Flanagan and Glenn Middleton in Graeme Murty’s reserves.
Polster and Kamara both played 45 minutes before being replaced at the break.
Kamara shouldn’t be too far away from being ready for the first-team after playing regularly for Dundee until late December.
Polster might take a bit more time after barely featuring for Chicago Fire last season following a series of injuries.
The American appeared in Chicago Fire’s final two games of 2018 as a substitute so hasn’t played since October.
With many of the younger players in the reserves squad in Qatar as part of an Under-17 tournament, Murty’s side had several senior players in the side.
Josh McPake’s hat-trick and Glenn Middleton’s double helped them to a comfortable win that keeps them top of the Reserve League.
Getting Polster and Kamara up to speed will be important for Rangers in the title race.
The Light Blues face a tough run of fixtures before next month’s Old Firm clash.
After making their first appearances for the Gers, hopefully, they can contribute quickly in the chase for 55.
