Rangers will face Celtic in two weeks’ time for a place in the last eight of the Scottish Cup after last night’s win over League One Cove at Ibrox – and Gers fans on Twitter are buzzing over the emergence of Scott Wright following his first start for the Gers
The Light Blues booked their place in the Fourth Round with a win over Paul Hartley’s Cove, setting up a mouth-watering Ibrox clash, and Wright’s performance was one of the major talking points coming out of the game.
After making seven changes from the Gers’ last competitive outing – last month’s draw at Parkhead, Steven Gerrard’s side eased into the next round as Jermain Defoe’s 30th goal for the club, a quickfire double from Kemar Roofe and a Nathan Patterson strike had Rangers 4-0 up at the break.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet, Wright was arguably Rangers’ best player on the night, winning our man of the match, as he caught the eye by constantly causing problems for Cove with his direct play and inventive runs.
With a number of sub appearances under his belt, Wright’s first start has fans desperate to see more from him – with one suggesting he was the love-child of Ibrox god Brian Laudrup and another comparing him to Neil McCann.
Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans on Twitter:
Scott Wright must be the illegitimate Scottish child of Brian Laudrup. 🤔

We regularly overhype players but Scott Wright really does look special. Plays with his head up. Rarely wastes a pass. He looks a real find.
