Hamilton star Ross Callachan has praised Rangers keeper Allan McGregor after the veteran denied him another couple of goals in yesterday’s 1-1 draw between the sides.
Callachan scored with the last kick of the ball to deny the Gers the three points – although some fans felt he should have been dismissed in the opening minute after a dangerous challenge on Connor Goldson.
The point was Hamilton’s first at home against Rangers since 1954 and the Accies star was left raving about McGregor after the final whistle.
“It was the last kick of the ball. I’ve never scored with that being the case before, so that was quite strange,” Callachan said [Daily Record].
“I was disappointed with the chance I had before, I felt I should have done better.
“The wee free kick was a good save from McGregor again, so I think I could have had another one or two today, but it wasn’t to be.
“I’m just glad to get the goal in the last minute.
“He’s brilliant. He’s done that his whole career and he got man of the match, so that shows you how good we were.”
The draw leaves Rangers 21 points ahead of Celtic with ten games left for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.
While McGregor will be disappointed at missing out on the Gers’ 22nd clean sheet in the league this season, the veteran has been fantastic this season for the Light Blues.
Meanwhile, the Lord Advocate has confirmed the ex-administrators of Rangers have been paid over £20million in damages
