Rangers manager Gio van Bronckhorst has insisted that Amad Diallo’s price tag when he joined Manchester United last year isn’t something the club are looking at after signing the wonderkid on loan as he gave the Ivorian his full backing to shine at Ibrox.
The teen could cost Man United almost £40million after his move last January but Gio is adamant the only thing he is interested in is whether Amad can add value to his squad.
With a possible debut against Ross County tomorrow, the Rangers boss hinted that he could even come into the starting XI for the Dingwall clash – but reminded fans that the Ibrox loanee is still only a young player despite his hefty valuation.
“We aren’t looking at his price tag and, for him, it isn’t something he is thinking about,” van Bronckhorst said.
“He’s still a young player who wants to play games, you can feel it when you talk to him, and the only place he wants to be is on the pitch.
“We are bringing him to the club to bring value to the team so of course he’s going to play but he’s part of the squad and he has to perform like any other player in the squad.
“I’m full of confidence that we will get that.”
The Ivorian will be hoping he can make his debut tomorrow ahead of next week’s Old Firm clash as the Light Blues look to push ahead in the title race.
With a small lead over their bitter rivals, next week’s meeting between the two could have a massive impact on where the league ends up.
