Former Rangers star Graham Dorrans has made his first start for A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers as they kicked off the new season this morning against Macarthur FC.

The veteran moved to Oz after a stint at Dundee and linked up with ex-Ibrox team-mate Kenny Miller as well as a few familiar faces in former Hamilton star  Ziggy Gordon and ex-Hearts defender Dylan McGowan.

Dorrans played 80 minutes as his new side slipped to a 1-0 defeat on the opening day of the season, Benat Exteberria scoring the only goal of the game 18 minutes from time.

The former Scotland international joined the Gers in 2017 following a nine-year stint in England with West Brom and Norwich, during which time he made a name for himself in the Premier League.

Injuries hindered his time at Ibrox though and Dorrans was limited to only 23 appearances in two years before heading to the City of Discovery.

At the start of this season, Dorrans had formed a midfield partnership with fellow former Rangers star Charlie Adam before he opted to terminate his contract in order to facilitate a move to Australia.

Meanwhile, the Gers will be hoping to end the year unbeaten in the league this season when they face St. Mirren later – here’s how we think the Light Blues will line up in Paisley
