Former Liverpool star thinks Rangers success is 'meant' for Gers boss

Galatasaray star Ryan Babel thinks former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard was destined to have a successful managerial career as he looks forward to head-to-head with Gerrard and his Rangers side tonight.

Babel will he hoping to shatter Rangers’ hopes of making the Europa League group stage for a third successive season tonight and he insists it is “clear” what Gerrard wants to accomplish as a manager.

The winger is excited by the “special” game tonight at Ibrox but won’t be letting sentiment get in the way against his old Anfield mate.

“I definitely think that you know he can have a successful career as a manager. I think that’s meant for Steven,” Babel said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“It’s clear what he wants to accomplish. He had a lot of determination as a player and you see that in his Rangers team.

“They are a good side, they play with pace and energy and make it tough for their opponents.

“It is a special game, a difficult match, but you know only one team can win and hopefully it will be Galatasaray.”

The Gers know how much is at stake in tonight’s playoff with the Light Blues on the brink of securing an automatic Champions League spot for the Scottish Premiership winners from 2022/23 as well as qualification for this season’s Europa League groups.

Hopefully, the Light Blues can put in the sort of performance they did against Willem II and blow the Turkish side away and progress to the next round.
