Former Rangers star Andy Halliday has insisted that the Light Blues “can’t lose” Alfredo Morelos despite the transfer interest in the Colombian – and is adamant he is the best striker at the club.
Morelos has been linked with over 30 clubs during his time at Ibrox but Halliday, who left the Gers over the summer, thinks it would be a big mistake to let him move on if he is fit and fully committed.
El Bufalo has been on the bench in recent games with Kemar Roofe starting for Steven Gerrard’s side before suffering an injury against Dundee United last weekend which saw him stretchered off.
“He’s still their best striker,” Halliday said on Si Ferry’s Keeping the Ball on the Ground.
“If he’s fully fit and fully committed he’s still their best striker. They can’t lose Alfredo.”
Morelos has been the Gers’ talisman in recent seasons, netting a phenomenal 14 Europa League goals last term to help fire the Gers to the last 16 against Bayer Leverkusen.
His long-term future at Rangers still looks up in the air with a number of clubs continuing to circle but unless any of them meets the Gers’ asking price, he’ll likely be staying.
If he does remain in Glasgow beyond the transfer window closing, few will have any complaints about keeping the club’s top goalscorer over the last few seasons.
