Rangers flop Fabio Cardoso has taken a big step in proving his doubters in Scotland wrong after the defender was named in the Portuguese Primeira Liga Team of the Season.
Cardoso left Ibrox last summer after a single season in Scotland and joined Santa Clara in his homeland – and seems to have gone from strength to strength.

The defender made 30 appearances for the minnows as they secured a tenth placed finish in the league, with Cardoso one of their top performers.
The former Ger took to Twitter to share an image of the Team of the Season,
as picked by a Portuguese newspaper.

Cardoso showed glimpses of his ability during his time in Scotland but was nowhere near consistent enough to merit a place in the first-team once Steven Gerrard arrived.
The arrivals of Niko Katic and Connor Goldson have seen the Light Blues add two impressive defenders in his place and it seems unlikely Cardoso would have kept either out of the side.

Hopefully though, he continues to impress in Portugal as he gets his career back on track after his brief stay in Scotland.
If he does, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win a move to a bigger club and continue to confound his critics.
