Wright joined the Gers in 2017 after helping to establish the Fife Elite Football Academy and played a big role in the link between Boclair Academy and Auchenhowie.

As part of his role at Rangers he was the lead coach with the Gers’ U15 group and managed the coaches and curriculum in the 13’s to 15’s groups..

He also coached at Boclair daily with more than 30 young Rangers players.

It will see him reunited with Jim McIntyre, who appointed him as a first team coach at Dunfermline a decade ago, then as head of youth.

The move has been expected for a while and has caused a re-shuffle in the Rangers set-up in recent weeks.

Malky Thomson will replace Wright as Head of Intermediate Academy while Kevin Thomson has taken Thomson’s role as Assistant Coach with the Under-18 squad.

With an impressive set-up at Ibrox, Wright’s departure shouldn’t cause any disruption and Academy boss Craig Mulholland has moved quickly to fill the gap left.
