Rangers legend Ally McCoist destroyed former Celtic player Chris Sutton on BT Sport’s Scottish Football Extra on Friday.

McCoist and Sutton are regularly pitted against each other on the show, with host Darrell Currie tasked with keeping order.

In this latest episode, their respective managerial efforts came up.

Before they gave their predictions for the weekend’s Premiership matches, McCoist said to Sutton: “By the way, before we go any further, you should not be allowed to predict 0-0.”

“That sums your Lincoln team up, by the way, Sutton. 0-0. No flair, man. Have a guess, try and get goals.”

Sutton then responded with a dig about McCoist’s time in charge of the Gers.

“I saw your Rangers team draw with Berwick-upon-Tweed,” he said.

But the comment was quickly picked apart by McCoist, who had the last laugh.

“Berwick-upon-Tweed is actually a place – Berwick Rangers is the name of the team ya dumpling, ok?”

McCoist may be turning 60 next year but Rangers’ record all-time goalscorer is as sharp as a tack and he continues to excel in the media.

He was lauded around the UK for his co-commentary work on Euro 2020 over the summer and he rarely disappoints when on punditry duty.

The Scottish Football Extra show has a more relaxed format and he thrives in it as well, with plenty of Bears likely having a chuckle at this latest triumph over Sutton.

Meanwhile, another popular former Rangers star has reportedly held talks about returning to Ibrox as part of GvB’s coaching team.
