Rangers winger Glenn Middleton looked set to go on loan to Doncaster Rovers last month before a change of management appeared to kill the deal dead.

However, a report claims that Donny will unveil their first signing of the summer after appointing Darren Moore as Grant McCann’s replacement as boss – but could it be the Gers winger?

According to the Yorkshire Post, the first signing of the Moore era will be unveiled later today, days after chief executive Gavin Baldwin hinted Middleton could still sign.

The report claims that Doncaster’s unnamed new signing trained with the club yesterday so it will be interesting to see if Middleton is the new face revealed today.

Middleton scored five times in 28 appearances in his debut season in the Rangers first-team but it looks like game-time will be hard to come by for the Scottish youth international.

The arrivals of Jake Hastie, Sheyi Ojo and Jordan Jones this summer – and the potential return of Ryan Kent – have given Steven Gerrard a wealth of options in wide areas.

If a move to Doncaster doesn’t happen for Middleton, the winger is still likely to head out on loan this summer as the Gers look to get him out and playing regularly.
