Controversial Hibs midfielder Scott Allan will miss this weekend’s meeting with Rangers with an unknown “health issue”, Easter Road boss Jack Ross has confirmed.

The Hibs star, who turned down a move to his boyhood heroes to sign for Celtic, joins Ibrox loanee Jamie Murphy on the sidelines for the top of the table clash.

“Scott Allan has a health issue at the moment that we are investigating further, so he’ll be out for the upcoming games,” Jack Ross said, quoted by James Delaney of Edinburgh Live.

“It’s a health issue that’s a private and confidential matter, so if and when we have more understanding of it we’ll be prepared to comment, but at the moment it rules him out for Sunday and the immediate games coming up after.”

Allan’s move to Parkhead  in 2015 sparked outrage amongst Bears, given that he had claimed to be a Rangers fan.

He was at Celtic for four years and spent much of his time out on loan, making just 13 league appearances in total, before re-joining Hibernian permanently in the summer of 2019.

Rangers will be looking to maintain their excellent start to the season with a win at Easter Road and another clean sheet as they close in on a world record.
