Ché Adams raves about Rangers Nathan Patterson after Scotland strike

Southampton and Scotland star Ché Adams has hailed Rangers defender Nathan Patterson after he scored his first international goal in the win over Moldova on Friday night – challenging the Gers star to force his way ahead of skipper James Tavernier at Ibrox.

Patterson opened the scoring with a fantastic goal as Scotland secured a place in March’s World Cup qualifying playoff semi-final as they look to end the 23-year wait to make it to the World Cup finals.

Adams lauded Patterson as an “amazing” player as he helped him up as one of the big hopes for the future alongside the likes of Billy Gilmour.

“Nathan’s an amazing player and a great guy off the pitch so I’m delighted for him,” he said [Football Scotland].

“He’s a good young prospect coming through for the nation and hopefully he can continue and keep adding goals as well.

“These guys give us hope for the future. To keep getting club minutes is important, to keep building and growing as a player and learn their craft.

“But that’s what they’re doing. They’re delivering on cold nights in Moldova, so there’s no reason why they can’t do it anywhere else.”

Unfortunately for Patterson, the Rangers star will miss out tomorrow night when Scotland face Denmark at Hampden after a booking against Moldova earned him a one-match ban.

His absence will be a big disappointment for him as he aims to continue catching the eye – and with a new manager at Ibrox imminent, it would have been a great time for him to really impress.

In other news, Glenn Middleton scored the winner in the Scotland under-21 match against Kazakhstan.
