rmer Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam thinks Alfredo Morelos could cost as much as £20million – if he loses the petulant streak.

Morelos was sent off for a third time this season against Aberdeen and Adam thinks his “stupidity” could cost him a big money move.

“Players have got a streak about them – you’ve got to look after yourself – but the way he does it, it’s petulant,” Adam told the BBC.

“That’s the only doubt with Morelos. In any game, at any moment, he’s got a switch that can get him a red card. It’s stupidity, really. You’re talking £15m-£20m for him if he didn’t have that.”

Much has been made about Morelos’ petulance but it’s vastly overblown.

The Rangers striker has had one red card overturned already and this one is currently being appealed.

Morelos clearly plays on the edge but it’s a big part of the striker’s style of play – and it works.

He’s been the top goalscorer in the league over the last two seasons and consistently rattles defences.

Despite his reputation, he’s a crucial player for Steven Gerrard’s side in the title battle.

He’ll leave Ibrox sooner or later – and likely for the sort of fee Adam mentioned – but the only thing that will influence his fee is goals.
