The former Celtic defender also thinks Rangers could win both of the upcoming Old Firm game in the league – which would really set up a thrilling finale in the title race.

“I think 1-11 Rangers are as good, or possibly even better than Celtic,” he told Sportsound.

“They’ve proved the last two games because the cup final they outplayed them but couldn’t get it done and in the league game they outplayed them and won the game at Celtic Park.

“I could actually see them, if they’ve got a fully fit squad, both Old Firm games, I could see them winning them.”

After winning the last meeting between the sides on December 29th, winning three of the four league Old Firm clashes this season would see Rangers slash the 10-point gap at the top of the table.

Celtic fans were going crazy at the former Partick Thistle boss’ comments and took to Twitter to unfairly lambast him.
