Billy Gilmour pictured after surprise training session as Rangers links go cold

Chelsea star Billy Gilmour has been pictured after training with WOSFL side Glenafton Athletic last night as the former Rangers Academy star prepares to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Gilmour, who spent last season on loan with Norwich City before Scotland’s summer internationals, was pictured with manager Ryan Stevenson after taking part in their second session of pre-season.

Posting on Twitter they said: “We were delighted to welcome Champions League winner, Chelsea player and Scotland internationalist Billy Gilmour to our second session of pre season training.

“This session was geared towards raising the fitness levels of the players for the upcoming season, and we hope the fitness work will be of great assistance to our players and Billy before he returns shortly to Chelsea to start their pre-season preparations.

“Billy is a regular at our games whenever he is back in Scotland and everyone at the club would like to wish Billy all the best for the upcoming season with Chelsea.”

Having represented Scotland over the summer, Gilmour has spent time north of the border with family ahead of returning to pre-season.

After reports suggesting the Chelsea midfielder was a target for Rangers this summer, everything seems to have gone cold with a reunion with Frank Lampard at Everton mooted.

He was also recently pictured at Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park after his younger brother signed with the Rugby Park side.

Wherever he ends up, it’s clear that the talented midfielder is still happy to put the hard graft in to reach the very top.
