Leeds United star Barry Douglas thinks it will be “exciting times” for Rangers after former team-mate Kemar Roofe joined the Gers – insisting he has “everything you’d want in a striker.”
Roofe played alongside Douglas before leaving Elland Road last season to join Anderlecht and the Scottish defender was blown away by him.
The striker is unlikely to make his debut tomorrow against St. Mirren but Douglas thinks that once he’s in the side, the striker will re right in among the goals.
“It’s going to be exciting times for Rangers and for him as well because he’s going to get a lot of chances,” Douglas said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“Playing with Roofe, he has everything you’d want in a striker.
“He’s got movement, he’s quick, he’ll run in behind, can hold the ball up and score goals too.
“Roofe’s very strong for not being the tallest. He can rough defenders up as well.
“He’s definitely got all the attributes to succeed and being at a club like Rangers, and the dominance they will have and the chances they will create in games, he’s definitely going to get among the goals.”
Roofe scored 28 goals in three years at Leeds before joining Anderlecht last summer where he had an injury-hit season, although still impressed in his limited appearances.
The striker is a welcome addition to the squad at Ibrox and, alongside Cedric Itten, should really help bolster Steven Gerrard’s frontline.
