Dutch legend Arthur Numan believes Rangers must keep Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox for “one more year” and told the Light Blues they must “do everything” to keep him at the club.
With Celtic on the brink of securing an eighth successive Scottish Premiership crown, Numan admits next season is “absolutely massive” for the Gers.
Morelos has been consistently linked with moves away from Ibrox over the last 18 months with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Leicester City previously credited with an interest.
“My view is that they keep the player for one more year,” Numan told the Sunday Post.
“For obvious reasons, next season is absolutely massive. When you have a player in your team that is capable of scoring 30 goals, you do everything you can to keep that player.
“How do replace a 30-goal-a-season striker? Not very easily.”
Morelos has hit the net 29 times so far this season and will be desperate to grab a 30th before the end of the season.
After signing two new contracts in close succession, it’s clear the club wants to keep Morelos at the club although if a big enough bid is made then it will be hard to turn down.
The Colombian has a massive career ahead of him and staying at Ibrox for another season would do his development a lot of good.
