Amazon tweet highlights why Rangers star should be Euro-bound with England

Online giants Amazon quizzed their Twitter followers over which four defenders should be part of the England squad for this summer’s Euros – and it only highlighted why Rangers star Connor Goldson should be in line for a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

After the competition was pushed back 12 months, England take on Scotland, Croatia and the Czech Republic this summer and Southgate’s final squad will be a hot topic as the deadline approaches.

Amazon listed 16 central defenders who could all be in contention, asking their followers to pick which four they felt should be going but Goldson’s heroic performances this season surely can’t have gone unnoticed.

The big defender has played every single minute for the Gers as they wrapped up the title in the quickest time since 1902, helped Rangers to the last 16 of the Europa League two years in a row, and been integral to smashing defensive records left, right and centre domestically.

In Europe, Goldson has impressed against some really impressive sides and has been integral to the Gers’ eleven-game winning run in the Europa League this season.

While it might be fanciful to think Goldson would be a regular starter for England, given the dearth of options available it isn’t that unfeasible he could win a shock call.

Rangers have written to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to raise worries about how the government has responded to the incident at George Square, challenging much of what deputy first minister John Swinney claimed in an address to the public yesterday.
